Smaller than a cigarette lighter      ...designed for the sports person

Quality engineering and amazingly low Pre Xmas Special Offer Price, this is the ideal gift for the man or woman in your life!

Anyone into sports will love this rugged little camcorder, which can be worn as a helmet camera, clipped to your clothing or attached to your skis, mountain bike, car dashboard, etc.

Measuring just 55 x 28 x 20mm and weighing in at just 50g, its hardly surprising that the fabulous SportsCam / Helmet Camera Mini DVR camcorder has already established itself as a "must have" accessory for mountain bikers, skiers and a wide range of other sports participants ...and it's also great for capturing some of those fun moments from your stag or hen night!

Don't be fooled by the low price or miniscule dimensions of this the unit however, as this versatile camera produces amazingly high quality video recordings (with audio), which is also why it has already become a favourite with anyone needing a camera for covert surveillance use.

Build quality is excellent and the metal housing is tough enough to take the knocks it will get even when used in some of the more extreme sports. The unit will operate at temperatures down to -10 degrees or as high as +60 degrees C and will record in light conditions right down to 1 LUX.

The technical bit:   2,000,000 pixels, CMOS colour camera, motion JPEG for AVI recording, VGA (640 x 48 pixels)

What does that mean? - well in practice (and in simple terms) it means it will good quality images with sound in a format that is easy to watch on your PC (or TV) and which can easily be uploaded to "YouTube" for sharing with your friends!

Using the camera couldn't be easier, there's a "power on/off" button, a "start/stop button" and a "Voice activated recording button". In normal use, you will only need to use the Power on/off and Start/Stop buttons, but the Voice Activation Button allows you to set the unit up for covert recording.

In covert "voice activated" recording mode, the camera will happily remain in standby mode for up to 10 days and only start recording when it detects sound over 65 db (i.e. voices, doors opening, etc). In voice activation mode the unit automatically stops recording when it has not detected sound for 2 minutes, and drops back into standby mode until it detects sound again.

The rechargeable internal Lithium battery means that you won't be spending a fortune on disposable alkaline batteries when you use this camera. A fully charged battery provide enough power to allow up to 2 hours of continuous recording or around 260 hours in standby mode. The battery is recharged by use of the supplied mains adaptor, or by connecting the camera to your PC or MAC via the USB connection.

Images are recorded onto a Micro SD card on which around 40minutes of video can be recorded per 1gb of storage capacity. The camera is supplied with a 2gb card (max card size supported is 8gb). Images can be transferred to your computer either by directly connecting the camera using the USB cable supplied, or by removing the SD card and inserting it into your computer using a suitable SD card reader.

This versatile little unit comes with everything in the box that you will need to start filming, but for the sportier among you, you may want to consider the optional "extreme sports pack" which includes a silicon weather sleeve for the camera, as well as several brackets, clips, straps, etc, which allow the camera to be securely fixed to helmets, clothing or items such as skis, etc.

A great Christmas gift for him or her, this super unit will provide year round fun!

Lead Theft Saturday 2nd April 2011

If you are responsible for: a Church, a School, a Listed Building or even residential premises, beware, You Could be the Next Ta

This example of a church lead roof shows why this type of building is particularly popular with thieves

With producers unable to keep up with worldwide demand for metals and the recession beginning to bite, it comes as no surprise that theft of precious metals and roof claddings such as lead and copper, has escalated as predicted.

If you are responsible for: a Church, a School, a Listed Building or even residential premises, beware, You Could be the Next Target!

Just a few days ago (28th March 2011), the Kingston Guardian reported a 75% increase in lead theft from roofs over just a 6 month period, and if you’ve already been on the receiving end of one of these robberies, you’ll know that it’s not just the financial aftermath that’s a problem, because it also results in all sorts of misery and collateral damage.

…and the crazy thing is, the value of the metal stolen by the thieves, only ever gets them a tiny fraction of the cost of repairs that have to be made.

Many thefts in fact, only net the thieves a few hundred pounds (so a days proper work would almost certainly be more profitable!), while repairs and weather damage to internal ceilings, furniture and artifacts, etc, often run into thousands or even hundreds of thousands of pounds.

One habitual thief on an 18 month lead thieving spree netted just £44,500 for around 45 tons of stolen lead (just think of how much effort it took to lug that much lead around) …but the damage caused, ran into hundreds of thousands if not millions of pounds.

Sadly when this habitual thief was finally caught by the police, the magistrate only sentenced him to 100 hours community service, and fined him £100 costs – despite the fact that he had asked for 33 offences to be taken into account!
So bearing that in mind, you really need to be taking immediate steps to protect your own interests!

Here’re a few practical suggestions of ways you can reduce your risk, some of them can of course be used in combination for maximum benefit (where appropriate, we,ve included some links to useful security products which you may find of help);

· Lock all gates and beef up your perimeter security measures to prevent easy access to your grounds or buildings
· Lock up wheelie bins, ladders, etc, to prevent them being used as climbing aids to get to low roofs.
· Apply anti climb paint to drainpipes, roof edges, etc, and put up warning signs to say that you have done so.
· Replace lead roof panels with an alternative material, or
· Paint your lead panels with anti climb paint, or
· Paint the lead the colour of your roof tiles
· Mark the lead panels with covert marking solutions such as enigmatag (criminals don't want to get caught in posession of something that can be proven to belong to someone else)

If you're not sure which would be your best option, your local Police Crime Prevention Officer will almost certainly be pleased to advise you, or call Insight Security on 01273 475500, they'll be happy to help and they also supply a wide range of security products that could help you.

Fed up with people stealing your Parking Space? Tuesday 1st February 2011

Don't get frustrated - these cost effective Car Parking Posts could be protecting your car space(s) right now!

Don't get frustrated - these cost effective Car Parking Posts
could be
protecting your car space(s) right now!

Car Parking Posts (which should probably more accurately be descibed as; parking space reservation posts, or car space posts), offer a practical solution to the age old problem of people illegally parking on your car parking space.

With so many cars on our roads now, parking is becoming more difficult every day, so it's not surprising if you get angry and frustrated when someone has pinched your space. Traditional solutions have included the use of car park security staff, issue of parking infringement tickets and probably most effective; wheel clamping!

Sadly, the misuse of wheel clamping as a solution by unscrupulous private clamping companies, has led to a government crackdown on clamping generally, so this is no longer a viable solution, but the good news is that there are some practical alternative solutions available.

The new range of surface mount parking posts from Insight Security offer a practical and "cost effective solution" to illegal parking, be it on private driveways or company car parks ...and are suitable for DIY or Professional Installation.

The benefit of surface mount parking posts is that you won't need deep excavations to use them. At worst, you may need to dig shallow excavations which you'll fill with concrete to provide a sound base for the bolt down fixings, ...but compared to digging down up to a metre to install an embedded drop down telescopic post (with the risk of digging into services such as gas, water or electricity equipment), their installation is a piece of cake.

There are different types of fixings available for use with the different types of surface to which the posts will be fixed.

For Asphalt (Tarmac) surfaces, special rubber sleeve expansion bolts provide a practical solution, while the special Self Tapping Masonry Bolts provide a simple solution for fixing your parking posts to a concrete surface and of course, the chemical resin fixing systemprovides a practical, robust fixing solution for almost any location.

For details of a wide range of traffic control products, visit the Insight Security website, ...or for more information ...or to discuss your requirements, call them on tel: 01273 475500.
